This 18-month project commenced in summer 2023 and will deliver improvements to four buildings at the Callington Road Hospital in Bristol, which helps people experiencing serious mental health conditions.

 

Interior work include reconfiguration of the space, as well as the installation of new bedrooms, wards, a kitchen and multi-purpose rooms for meetings, consulting and supervision, a therapy suite, workshops and a de-escalation centre along with sustainability improvements to the lighting and heating systems.

Refurbishment and fit out work has commenced on several Specsavers Opticians’ store revamps across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Urban was appointed to the Specsavers’ Framework in 2023 and the interiors’ team currently has eight stores set for a facelift as part of the nationwide refurbishment programme. Work includes refreshing the stores’ display units, full decoration, and upgrading the lighting across the showrooms. A further three larger rebrand projects are scheduled which include general store configuration, redecoration, replacement ceilings, flooring, lighting, external signage and all M&E works.

Specsavers

Client: Morgan Sindall Property Services

Urban is the sole contractor on behalf of the client across empty property refurbishment and minor works for MSPS clients such as Yorkshire Housing, Home Group and Riverside Group.

Covering West, South & North Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, the team provided a mix of in-house and multi-skilled sub-contractor partners across plumbing, joinery, electrical and heating. Urban initially delivered circa 60 repairs per week, increasing to 100 by the spring of 2023.

Empty Property Refurbishments

Client: Salvation Army Ltd

Urban Interiors provided reactive maintenance, property refurbishment and minor works contract across 60 Salvation Army properties within West, South & North Yorkshire, and Lincolnshire.

The service was provided through a mix of in-house teams including multi-skilled joiners, plumbers, supported by subcontractor partners for electrical and heating. They are delivering circa 40 repairs per week.

Urban Interiors has successfully completed Phase 2 of Darlington Covered Market’s ongoing transformation and recently commenced work on Phase 3.

Phase 3 covers the whole of the Victorian market and will see bespoke market stalls and pods being installed, an office refurbishment, as well as other M&E work and fittings. Work on the latest six-figure revamp is expected to complete by the end of 2023, with the market remaining open throughout.

Urban’s Interiors Division has already completed Phase 2 which included renovating the shop front fascia and entrances, added a new shop floor café, new public and trader toilets on the ground floor and new toilets to the market’s basement. Phase 2 also incorporated a full renovation of the abandoned basement which has been transformed to create the Prohibition-themed bar and live music venue, The Vault.

This project covered the full fit out of the new headquarters for expanding fashion brand Lucy & Yak which included a 38,500 sq. ft warehouse and office complex on the Dearne Valley Parkway, South Yorkshire.

Urban’s Interiors has completed its first refit on behalf of betting giant Entain Plc which owns the Ladbrokes chain.


Work has been completed on the full refit of the Ladbrokes’ Rutherglen branch, near Glasgow, that included new panelling, ceiling and floor renovations, lighting upgrades, digital print panelling, counter cladding, betting machine installation and exterior signage.


Further projects are planned across the North and Scotland.

Urban Interiors has successfully completed on a three-phase refurbishment and fit out on the new UK headquarters of public health specialists, NSF International.

The two office schemes – 15,000 and 20,000 sq. ft respectively - enjoyed a full internal revamp including new office reconfigurations and partitioning, heating and ventilation systems, flooring and full decoration. Urban also completed an external revamp which included repairs and spraying of the dated red/brown and green façade to give the HQ a smart new exterior.

National Framework Refurbishment and fit out

Client: TK Maxx

As part of a National Framework that oversees the refurbishment of existing TK Maxx stores, Urban upgraded  a number of stores all of which were completed out of hours to ensure that the stores remained operational throughout the works.

Works included upgrading of the fitting room and cash desk areas, new flooring fitted throughout the store, upgrading of existing shop front and installation of new LED lighting throughout the stores in addition to full re-decoration of the back of house areas including toilets, canteen and offices.

As part of a National Framework, Urban oversaw the fit out of new Costa stores on behalf of the international coffee house giant. Works included the full installation and refurbishment of new counters, flooring, walls, air conditioning and decorating in new premises, with décor, flooring and lighting upgrades also carried out in select, designated, stores.

Scope of the team’s skills covered the design and build, groundworks, M&E, plastering,  plumbing, flooring, carpentry, painting, ceiling & roofing, kitchen and bathroom spaces, and the windows & doors.

This project covered the full fit out of the Nuveen-managed offices at Fargate, Sheffield city centre. The contract covered 21,000 sq. ft of the high-profile CAT A office space, over four floors, with break out areas and employee facilities.


The works consisted of floor strengthening, M&E, installation of partitions/glazed screens/wall protection, installation of new kitchens, new flooring, decoration works, new external signage and installation of rope access solutions. The scheme was handed over to the client on schedule.

Working in partnership with Accent Group’s development team, Urban secured a41-unit housing development in Keighley which incorporates 2&3 bedroom homes.


The team commenced on site in the summer of 2021 with the scope of work including: groundworks & drainage, plastering, painting, plumbing, flooring, roofing, carpentry, windows & doors, gas connections to kitchen & bathrooms, and cleaning.

TK Maxx

Value: c £15 million

The nine-storey Straits Aire student accommodation scheme at 26-34 Merrion Street in Leeds will complete in summer 2024. The 32,000 sq ft (2,898 sq m) building will provide 88 boutique en-suite studios, including four rooms designed for those with disabilities and two premium suites.

With on-site facilities including a cinema, gym, lounge, event, dining and breakout study space, as well as laundry facilities, it is expected to appeal to students seeking high specification accommodation.

Prior to demolition and subsequent construction commencing, the development division at Urban sourced and acquired the land and secured planning permission for the project.
